Luciferase activities in response to chemical compounds in 16HBE cells expressing IL-8 promoter-driven reporter gene. 16HBE cells stably expressing IL-8 promoter-driven reporter gene were pre-cultured for 24 h, then treated with vehicle or indicated concentrations of chemical compounds for further 48 h. After that, cells were harvested for preparation of whole cell lysates, the supernatants were subjected to luciferase assays and determination of protein levels. The data were expressed as means ± SD, n = 6. *p < 0.05, **p < 0.01 versus vehicle treatments (0 μM)
